Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.
Even though entering their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel MuƱoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in match.
A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and MuƱoz are out with leg injuries.
Control Asserted from the Start
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.
Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
